The Flame Upon the Mountain

The Flame Upon the Mountain

The girl who believed in a world that forgot.
When eleven-year-old Matilda stumbles upon a long-buried mystery, the mountains of her valley home come alive with wonder and danger. As ancient powers stir and shadows creep toward her home, Matilda must face a choice that could cost everything she holds dear—or awaken something in herself greater than she ever dreamed.

A new MG/YA epic fantasy series coming in 2026!

The Flame Upon the Mountain is a beautiful fantasy set in a world steeped in epic myth and legend, a true hero story that celebrates courage, sacrifice, and the strength of community. This is far more than simple entertainment. It's a moving tale that reminds us that even the smallest hero can stand against the greatest darkness, and that no one ever stands alone.

About Luke

Luke Johnson is a Saskatchewan-based author of fantasy and children’s books. With his background in ancient languages, narratology, and mythology, Luke loves building big stories with deep roots.

Luke has been creating fun characters and engaging stories (with all the voices!) for the young people in his life for many years. Creating is a way of life for Luke, whether he is building web apps, writing music, designing outlandish Christmas cards, preparing liturgical resources, or crafting stories.

With his wife and kids, Luke enjoys seeking the peace of wild things in the parks and wilderness near their home or settling in for a proper hygge.

There’s nothing he loves more than finding the ridiculous and the meaningful in life and helping others to notice them, too.

There are many more stories on the way, so be sure to sign up for Luke’s author newsletter to hear about upcoming releases.
